Important Update About Our Banking Systems

As of 9/16/26
9:20 PM EST

More than 40% of the credit unions affected are now back up on their core systems, and wide-scale restoration is now underway. Their full technical teams will be working throughout the night to restore the remaining credit unions.

Our vendor's current goal is to have all affected credit unions back up within the next 12-18 hours. We do not yet have a specific restoration time for Auburn Community FCU, but we are hopeful that we will see progress overnight.

We want to continue to clear up some understandable concerns that we have heard from members. This outage is not the result of a hacking attempt or unauthorized access to our systems or member information. The issue was caused by a hardware failure at the data center that supports our banking system.

Unfortunately, even well-maintained technology and equipment can experience unexpected failures. This was a hardware failure that caused a significant interruption do the systems that currently support our banking services.

We realize that everyone wants to get back to normal from our members to our staff that has been working to do their best to listen and answer your questions and concerns. We appreciate the patience and understanding that our membership has shown us.

We will continue to update our members as we get more updates.

We want to share an update regarding the service interruption that has affected some of our banking systems.

First and most importantly, your money is safe and your personal information remains secure. The issue is not related to a cyberattack, fraud event, or data breach.

We know many of you rely on us every day to access your accounts, receive direct deposits, pay bills, and manage your finances. We understand how frustrating and concerning this situation is, and we want you to know that we are working closely with our core processing provider, Sharetec, to restore services as quickly and safely as possible.

What Happened?

Our core banking provider experienced a significant infrastructure failure at the data center that hosts their systems on 9/15/26. The issue was caused by equipment damage following a cooling system failure at the facility.

While this has affected the availability of certain services, the recovery effort is focused on preserving the accuracy and integrity of member account information. In other words, the priority is making sure your account information is correct when systems are restored.

Where Things Stand Today

Their teams worked throughout the night and have now moved from preparation into active restoration. Additional infrastructure has been brought online, and recovery efforts are progressing.

Restoration will occur in phases, with systems being carefully brought back online and validated before service is restored. While progress is being made, Sharetec has advised that recovery efforts will continue throughout the day and night and that they do not yet have a confirmed timeframe for full restoration.
